We prepare 10 christmas hampers every year for the families in the Refuge.
If anyone is considering giving gifts to the Refuge this Christmas, perhaps you might like to consider a donation of any of the following:
- Bottle of sparking drink (non-alcoholic)
- Biscuits for cheese
- Christmas cake
- Cheese in wax
- Condiments such as ready made mustard, pickles, pickled onions
- Box of chocolates
- Tins of salmon
- Tins of ham
- Nice nibbles like crisps, nuts, bombay mix
- Christmas pudding
- Brandy custard
We create the hampers in the middle of December, so please let us know if you can help:
Tel Fiona 07962 532079 or email email@example.com. We can collect from you if required.
We are always short of boys clothes as they tend to get hammered.
If you or anyone you know has any hand-me-downs that still have some life in them, we would always be keen to accept them.
Please call Fiona on 07962 532079 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will collect.
Thank you all so much for the regular and generous donations we receive throughout the year. The families in the Refuge tend to arrive with nothing, so clothing is always needed.
Friends give presents to the women in the Refuge at Christmas. We like to give grown up residents a “Pamper Hamper” full of good quality beauty products. If you would like to donate anything from the following list, we would be really thrilled:
- Shower Gel
- Body lotion
- Hand cream
- Face cloths
We request that all products are new and in original packaging.
Thank you very much!
It is an astonishing ten years since the North Dorset Women’s Refuge opened and to celebrate we are having a 10th anniversary birthday party. The theme of the event will be TIN. All our Friends will be receiving an invite shortly so put the 23rd November 2012 in your diary.
Friends of North Dorset Women’s Refuge always need new sources of funds to help in our mission of providing assistance to the women and children in the refuge. If you, or anyone you know are running a marathon next year, perhaps you could think about sponsoring us. All the fundraising goes directly to the cause – we claim no expenses and very little in administation costs. Please get in touch if you can help.
We are pleased to confirm that the teenagers “Chill-out” room is nearly completed and can be used by the residents. We purchased some fabulous furniture and a big flat screen TV. Rita has designed a great space for older children to go and relax after a day at school and get some space on their own. There will be some pictures up soon.
We are really pleased to announce that Home Start North Dorset are supporting families during their time in the Refuge. They are also continuing the support when the families leave to live in their own homes which is a particularly vulnerable time during this transition period. Have a look at the Home-Start North Dorset website for more information – it is a great organisation.
Do you need speakers for your group or charity? Friends of North Dorset Women’s Refuge have a remit of raising awareness of domestic violence and encouraging people to get help. We would be delighted to come and talk to you. Please get in touch via our contact us page.
CANCELLED DUE TO THE AWFUL WEATHER RUINING THE GARDEN
The date for our annual garden party is Wednesday 20th June 2012.
It is held at Grove Farm House in Melbury Abbas and hosted by Sara and Edward Jacson.
Hopefully the weather will oblige with lots of sunshine, but there is plenty of room inside in the event of a downpour. Come and have some homemade cake, peruse the home made produce and buy a raffle ticket. All the proceeds go to the Friends of North Dorset Women’s Refuge.
